《 バンカチャ・12条ブラックスターサファイア 》

タイのサファイア産地の一つであるバンカチャ、通称この産地のものは『バンカチャサファイア』と呼ばれています。そのバンカチャ産のスターサファイアの中でも非常に珍しいのが、12条のスターが現れるタイプです。

12条のスター効果というのは、一般的な6条のスターが2つ重なり合っている状態です。一方は通常通りのルチルインクルージョンに反射したスター。一方はヘマタイトインクルージョンに反射したスター。タイのコランダムは鉄を含むために、このようにヘマタイトに反射するスターを重ねて見ることが出来るのです。

現在バンカチャは採掘量が非常に少なく、SELSHA でも買い付けの度に馴染みのディーラーから、オールドストックや新たに採掘されたものを含めて少しづつ譲ってもらっています。スターが見られるだけでなく、コランダムの成長線やブラウン 、グリーン、イエローなど色のコントラストが魅力的です。

《 Bang Kacha 12-Ray Black Star Sapphire 》

Bang Kacha is one of Thailand’s well-known sapphire mining regions, and sapphires from this area are often referred to as “Bang Kacha Sapphires.” Among them, one of the rarest varieties is the star sapphire displaying a remarkable 12-ray star.

A 12-ray star effect occurs when two separate 6-ray stars overlap within the same stone. One star is formed by light reflecting off rutile inclusions, while the other is created by reflections from hematite inclusions. Because Thai corundum contains iron-rich elements, these hematite-related reflections can appear together, producing this uniquely layered star phenomenon.

Today, mining activity in Bang Kacha has become extremely limited. Each time SELSHA visits for sourcing, we carefully acquire small quantities from trusted long-term dealers, including both old stock and newly mined material.

Beyond the star effect itself, these sapphires are also admired for their visible corundum growth lines and the rich contrasts of brown, green, and yellow tones within the stone. The combination of optical phenomenon and natural color layering gives each piece a deep and mysterious character unique to Bang Kacha material.
