水晶の中に綺麗な虹が見られるアイリスクォーツ。その美しい姿から、ギリシャ語で虹を意味する "イリス" という言葉からそのように呼ばれ、レインボークォーツという名前でも知られてます。

宝石の中に虹が見られる「イリデッセンス」という現象は、光の干渉によるものです。内部にある薄層やクラックに光が反射することで屈折が変化し、それぞれの光の波長が強めあったり弱めあったりすることで虹色を見ることができます。

水晶で見られるこの現象は内部に薄い層があってこそのものですので、クラックのある原石から研磨しています。その為ひび割れの一部が表面へ達している場合が多くありますのでご理解の上ご購入ください。

Iris Quartz is a type of quartz in which a beautiful rainbow can be seen within the crystal.
Its name comes from Iris, the Greek word for rainbow, and it is also known as Rainbow Quartz.

The rainbow-like effect visible inside gemstones is called iridescence, a phenomenon caused by the interference of light.
When light reflects and refracts within thin internal layers or natural fractures, the wavelengths of light interact—strengthening and weakening one another—resulting in the appearance of vivid rainbow colors.

In quartz, this phenomenon occurs only when such delicate internal structures are present.
For this reason, the stone is cut and polished from rough material that contains natural fractures.
As a result, some of these fractures may reach the surface. We ask for your understanding of this characteristic before purchasing.
