『トラピッチェクォーツ』とは、6条の放射模様が見られる水晶の結晶を、模様が分かる方向にスライスしたクォーツです。「トラピッチェ」とは、スペイン語で「サトウキビの搾り機」を意味し、元々は歯車のような放射状の模様をしたエメラルドに付けられた名前です。その後、同じような模様が見られるクォーツも、構造は異なるものの見た目が似ていることから「トラピッチェクォーツ」と呼ばれるようになりました。

こちらの掲載商品は結晶をスライスしたままのルースです。そのためガードルには表皮がそのまま残っており、研磨もツヤの少ない状態です。標本としてお楽しみいただいたり、自然の状態を生かした作品づくりに向いています。

“Trapiche Quartz” refers to quartz crystals that display a six-rayed radial pattern, sliced in the direction that reveals this distinctive motif. The term “trapiche” comes from the Spanish word for a sugar-cane mill, and was originally used to describe emeralds with gear-like radial patterns. Although the internal structure of quartz is different from that of trapiche emeralds, quartz showing a similar appearance came to be known as “Trapiche Quartz” due to its visual resemblance.

The pieces shown here are loose slices cut directly from the raw crystal. Because of this, the natural outer skin remains along the girdle, and the finish has a subdued, low-polish surface. These pieces can be appreciated as mineral specimens or used in jewelry that embraces the stone’s natural, unrefined character.
